Terms of Service & Privacy Policy
Effective July 14, 2026 (version 2026-07-14). DoorLine is owned and operated by Sovereign Labs Inc. (sovereignlabs.ai). Questions? Email matt@sovereignlabs.ai.
The short version
- We never sell your data to third parties.
- Your data is stored at rest in a Canadian data center, and we work hard to protect personal information.
- DoorLine is a small, best-effort service: we don't promise uptime and we're not liable for losses if something breaks.
- You're responsible for using the data you collect at the door lawfully.
- We may use aggregated, de-identified data (never personal information) to improve the product and for research. Those outputs are never sold.
1. Who we are and what DoorLine is
DoorLine is a door-to-door canvassing tool for local political campaigns. It helps campaigns plan turfs, knock doors, record conversations, and understand the results. It is owned and operated by Sovereign Labs Inc., a Canadian company.
These terms are one document covering both how you may use DoorLine (the terms of service) and how we handle data (the privacy policy). By creating an account or accepting these terms in the app, you agree to them. If you're accepting on behalf of a campaign, you confirm you have the authority to do so.
2. Your account
You sign in with your phone number. Keep your device secure; anyone with access to your phone can access your account. Campaign admins can invite canvassers and disable accounts on their campaign. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or put the service or other users' data at risk.
3. Using DoorLine responsibly
Campaigns use DoorLine to record information about voters: names, addresses, opinions, and notes from conversations. That data belongs to your campaign, and your campaign is responsible for it. You agree to:
- follow the laws that apply to you, including privacy and election laws in your jurisdiction;
- only record information people share voluntarily at the door, and treat it with respect;
- not use DoorLine to harass, deceive, or spam anyone;
- not attempt to access other campaigns' data, probe our systems, or resell the service.
4. Privacy: what we collect
In plain terms, DoorLine stores:
- Account data: your name, phone number, and (for campaign owners) a billing email.
- Campaign data: addresses, turfs, and the canvassing responses your team records at the door (outcomes, support levels, issues, notes, and optional resident contact details).
- Operational data: things the app needs to work, like a canvasser's live location while a canvass is running (shared with their campaign admins) and basic logs for debugging.
5. Privacy: our commitments
- We never sell your data. We don't sell, rent, or trade your data (or your campaign's voter data) to any third party. No advertisers, no data brokers, no other campaigns.
- We protect personal information. Access is restricted per campaign and per role, data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and personally identifiable information is stripped before any text is processed by our AI features.
- Your campaign's data stays yours. Campaign admins can export their data at any time, and can ask us to delete it (see section 9).
6. Privacy: where your data lives
Your data is stored at rest in a Canadian data center (our database provider, Supabase, hosts this project in AWS's Canada region in Montréal). To run the service we use a small number of service providers, and some of them process data on servers in the United States:
- Supabase: database and authentication. Data at rest in Canada (AWS ca-central-1).
- Twilio (US): sends the text messages for login codes and invites, so phone numbers pass through US infrastructure.
- Anthropic (US): powers AI features like reading paper walk sheets and summarizing issues. We use their API, which does not train on our data and does not retain it beyond short-term operational windows (such as abuse monitoring). We strip personally identifiable information from text before it is sent for analysis.
- Vercel (US): hosts the application, so data is processed in transit on US servers even though it is stored in Canada.
That's the whole list. If it changes in a way that matters, we'll update this policy and ask you to accept it again.
7. Privacy: who can see your data
- Your campaign's admins can see the data recorded on their campaign, including which canvasser recorded what.
- Sovereign Labs Inc. staff may access data when needed to operate the service: fixing bugs, investigating problems, supporting users, and improving features. We access the minimum needed to do the job.
8. Research and product improvement
We may use aggregated, de-identified data (never personally identifiable information) to improve DoorLine and for research (for example, understanding canvassing patterns across many doors in aggregate). Nothing that could identify a person, and no raw campaign data, is ever included, and the outputs of any research are never sold.
9. Keeping and deleting data
We keep your campaign's data for as long as your campaign uses DoorLine. A campaign owner can request an export or deletion of their campaign's data at any time by emailing matt@sovereignlabs.ai. We'll handle these requests promptly on a best-effort basis.
10. Service level: best effort, no guarantees
DoorLine is run by a very small team and priced accordingly. We care a lot and respond as fast as we can, but we do not offer a service level agreement. There is no guaranteed uptime, no guaranteed response time for support or feedback, and the service may occasionally be slow, buggy, or unavailable, including at inconvenient moments. Back up anything you can't afford to lose (you can export your data any time).
11. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
DoorLine is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Sovereign Labs Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, financial losses from downtime, lost or corrupted data, missed canvassing opportunities, or election outcomes.
- Our total liability for any claim related to DoorLine is limited to the amount your campaign paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
- While we work hard on data security and privacy and have set up the infrastructure described above, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot accept liability for unauthorized access that occurs despite our reasonable efforts.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold harmless Sovereign Labs Inc., its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of DoorLine, including the data your campaign collects, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any person.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version before you continue using DoorLine. The current version is always available on this page.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
