Organizing mode

After the election: switch the campaign to Organizing mode, keep the ward and the door history, hand the account to whoever runs it next.

For campaign admins

What Organizing mode is

A campaign account holds the most useful thing a ward team ever builds: every door, and what the person behind it said. Organizing mode keeps that working after election day. The ward map, address universe, canvasses, and door history all stay. The admin console reorders itself around the work that continues: your team, the occasional canvass, and, if you turn it on, constituent casework.

Switch the campaign to Organizing mode

Only the campaign owner can do this. Open Settings → Mode and choose Organizing. The change is immediate and reversible: pick Campaign again any time (say, when the next election period opens) and the sign and GOTV pages come back exactly as you left them.

What changes, what stays

  • Stays: the ward boundary, every address, every response and note, turfs, canvasses, Users, Analytics, Data & export, Settings.
  • Moves down the nav: Signs, GOTV, Lit Drop, Estimated Votes, Badges. They still work; they just stop being the first thing you see.
  • New on the dashboard: an organizing panel with your team size, recent canvasses, and (for people with access) open and overdue casework counts.
  • New in the nav: a Constituent casework link, shown only to people the casework lead has let in. See the casework guide.

Canvassers notice nothing until casework is turned on and they are added to it. The knock app is unchanged.

Turning on casework

In Organizing mode, Settings → Mode has a Constituent casework section. The owner turns it on by naming a casework lead: the person who will run the office side. That is the only decision the owner makes. From then on the lead decides who else gets in, from Casework → Staff.

The same section sets the overdue threshold (default 14 days without activity) and lets the owner turn casework off. Turning it off hides the space; it does not delete cases.

Handing over the account

After an election the person who set the account up is often not the person who will use it next. Settings → Ownership → Transfer ownership moves the owner role to any admin on the campaign. You type their name to confirm. You stay on as an admin; they become the only owner, and get a text saying so.

If you did not win

Organizing mode is not only for office holders. A team that knocked three thousand doors knows its ward better than almost anyone, and the account keeps working for whatever comes next: a residents’ association, a community campaign, or the next run. Casework works the same way for an organizer taking resident issues to a councillor as it does for the councillor’s own staff.
